Blade: N690 hardened to 58RC – Rockwell (120mm)
When looking at knife blades you will often see a number in the specs with “RC” after it. This number represents the Rockwell Rating. The Rockwell rating is a scale that is used to measure the hardness of a material. An example is stainless steel which is usually 57-59 RC. The Rockwell hardness test is the industry standard for knives.
NB. Blade comes with a life time warranty if used for the correct purposes.

Handle: Leadwood (115mm)
Leadwood has found acceptance for narrow applications like knife handles for good purposes. Leadwood captivatingly is a beautiful rich glossy chocolate brown to black figuring, the fine-grained timber turns extremely well and can be shaped with saws, files and rasps. It is quite a rare timber, only available occasionally, unique to Africa and the trees that it comes from can live for up to a thousand years and still stand for another 500 years as it is resistant to borers. As the name suggests, leadwood is a heavy, dense material, and ranks among the ten heaviest timbers in the world – none of which float.

The brown heartwood is resistant to borer and termite, is durable and has a pleasing spicy fragrance. The wood polishes well and is well known in tropical Africa as Mukwa when used to make good quality furniture that has an attractive light brownish-yellow colour
